Christmas Recap

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Now that Chad and I are married a lot of our family traditions are changing to accommodate both sides of the family. It’s sad on one end but it’s exciting on the other because we get the chance to create our own traditions as a small family.

We have a tradition on my side of the family on Christmas Eve. Normally we have a big Christmas Eve dinner at my moms, something other than the traditional ham. We open presents, play games, and go to a church service. Now that both my sister and I are married, we decided to change it up this year. We will be rotating Christmas’ between the 3 of us with this year being our year.

Needless to say this past week was a busy one, not only was it Christmas but it was also the first time Chad and I hosted our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. I had a few blog posts planned for this past week and didn’t get around to writing them so I’m here this morning sipping on some coffee and maybe eating some left over pecan pie cheesecake for breakfast to catch up on my blogging. I love the holiday’s it gives you an excuse to eat left over dessert for breakfast, I mean someone has to eat it!

Our dinner turned out amazing and the company was pretty good as well. We set the menu for Christmas Eve a few weeks ago and then did our grocery shopping on Monday. We decided to have prime rib for dinner. We purchased the roast from one of our favorite butchers and they did not disappoint. We did a lot of the pre-work on Tuesday like the mashed potatoes, and cheesecake so that Christmas Eve was nothing short of calm and perfect! I got the glass bowl for my kitchen aid mixer from my mother-in-law and it definitely went to work this past week.

Here’s a few pictures from our Christmas Eve dinner

The next day Chad and I woke up and exchanged presents, we also gave Karl his presents and then headed over to my parents’ house to have brunch and then Chad’s grandparents’ house to have dinner and work on a puzzle.

  1. Thanks again Bethie for doing the Christmas get together this year. A lot of work was involved to make this a fun family gathering. Words can never express how much I appreciate you kids. I love you both dearly!
