Nursery Inspiration

Now that we have sold our guest bedroom bed and we'll be going to Dallas next weekend to get furniture and then our garage sale the following it's time to get serious about the nursery! I love the soft floral look so I'm leaning towards light pink, white, and gold. Grady's crib is gray and I'm not buying a new one although I love the white cribs so there will be gray in there as well. Below is few inspirational pictures for what we are shooting for. And dying over the shiplap walls just need to convince Chad!!

Grady's Nursery

It was so fun decorating Grady's nursery! I wanted something that wasn't too babyish and that he could grow into. According to Chad, it's his favorite room in the house.

Nursery Inspiration

Shit just got real!!! We just purchased his crib and I all of a sudden got a reality shock that we will be bringing home a baby in 4 short months. Holy smokes its coming up quick.

I’m in love with the Woodland theme for nurseries and luckily Chad is too! Here is a little inspiration for Grady’s nursery.

Crib: I purchased the crib from Amazon and then noticed it doesn’t come with the toddler rail or full-size bed conversion kit. Oh well

Glider: We’re going to Kansas City and stopping by an ikea. Thank goodness for ikea and pinterest. I fell in love with a glider that was around $1,000. Definitely not in the budget I found that you can convert an arm chair from ikea into a glider for only $250. Can’t wait for this project, don’t worry I’ll post the results

Here we go, let the adventure begin!

Tree Skirt - DIY

Well I told you I would put together a tutorial on my tree skirt so I rushed to get it to you before Christmas. Just in case you have some free time between now and then to add an extra craft, hehe.

Materials:

5 x 5 ft painters drape canvas (I found my at Home Depot)
4 ft fabric of your choice, I used cotton
Glue gun
Glue sticks (a new pack, you’ll use them)
Scissors
Marker
Measuring tape

Instructions:

Lay the painters drape canvas out on the floor. Fold in quarters.

 

Then fold it in a triangle.

 

Measure your tree and how long you want your tree skirt to be. I wanted mine to be 22 inches so I took my measuring tape and put it at the top of the corner of the triangle and held it there while I made my marks on the bottom portion. I made my marks across the bottom on the painter’s canvas to make a circle. Cut the top corner of your triangle and along your dotted line.



 

Lay it out on a table, if you’re like me you might not of folded it in a quarter and now you have 2 pieces. Don’t worry just overlap one side and glue the 2 pieces together.



 

 

 

Get your cotton fabric and measure and mark at every 3 inches. You can either cut or tear the pieces off. Don’t worry if it’s not a straight line, you’ll never notice once it’s all put together.

Next you are going to take your fabric and glue a line on the painters canvas where the top of your piece of fabric is just covering the edge of the skirt. To make the ruffle look make a little fold on your glue line all the way around.

You will repeat all the way around the skirt overlapping each layer.

Guest Room Essentials

I thought this post was appropriate with thanksgiving right around the corner, can you believe that its next week?

We don't have guests stay at our house all that often since we live so close to our families. But when we do have guests I like to make sure they feel comfortable. Have you ever been to someone’s house and you really need something to drink in the middle of the night but don’t want to go out and get something just in case the hosts might either still be awake or you might wake them up? Maybe that’s just me but I try and put items in our guest room when we have guests that I would like if I’m staying at someone’s house. Here is a list of things I like to do.

In their room:

Something to drink

Ibuprofen
Granola bars
Extra blankets

 

In the bathroom:

Lay their towels out

Stock up the shower with everything they might needwneed
Place extra toilet paper where they can find it

Just a few things but maybe if we make them feel comfortable they will want to come back and stay with us.

 

 Also, I will not be posting anything new posts next week. The blog is going under a little construction; I can’t wait to show it all to you!
