Weekend Recap

Monday, September 8, 2014

We are so blessed to have such amazing friends and a great support system around us. This past Friday we had some of our friends over for dinner, and since she is one of my biggest followers, she asked me to share my mashed potato recipe that I made for them on Friday.

I absolutely love mashed potatoes I could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is definitely my comfort food when I’m feeling down and my go to side dish for dinner parties. Since you can make them the night before and then just pop them in the oven right before the guests arrive, they sure do make for a great timesaver. Especially when you’re throwing a dinner party every second leading up to your guests walking through that door is valuable. I tried Pioneer Woman’s mashed potato recipe a few years ago and have not gone back or felt guilty about it. (Recipe here)

After dinner we had a special visit from Chad’s brother, his wife, and their daughter. They had just moved from Hawaii to California and are in town for a few weeks before he has to report back to his unit. We are so excited about this move since they will be closer to home and are looking forward to the visits out to California.

Saturday I went to a women’s seminar at our church and then we went to a couple’s wedding shower.  A cold front came through on Friday night making it feel a lot like fall, so in celebration I decided to break out a sweater and boots for the first time this season!

After the wedding shower we went to go see Chad’s cousin’s baby. He is the happiest mellow baby, which makes baby fever at an all-time high every time I get to see that little man.

Saturday night I whipped out the sewing machine and attempted to make baby shorts, well after 2 failed attempts I put the project down (more like threw it down) and went to bed.

Sunday was a new series at our church that really spoke to Chad and I. We sometimes get wrapped up in what everyone else is doing that we forget to be grateful for what we have. After church we traveled to Chad’s grandmother’s house for her famous tacos. This woman is so talented and I have so much to learn from her.

We are so blessed to have family so close to us that sometimes we take it for granted.

I hope everyone has a great week!
