Magnolia Trip

Sunday, June 4, 2017

This past weekend was so much fun! I love making memories with my little family. We traveled to the famous Magnolia Market to check out what the buzz was about. We left on Thursday after work and since it is 6 hours away from us we broke up our time in the car. We traveled to Ardmore which is 3 hours away and stayed in a hotel that night and then traveled the rest of the way on Friday. Grady did absolutely amazing in the car, much better than the airplane but maybe it’s because he can’t go anywhere in the car with his carseat.

We were stoked to kind out that there was a Buc-ee’s on our way through Fort Worth so of course we had to stop. Sad to admit but we spent more money here than we did at Magnolia. Yes it is a gas station but don’t hate until you have been. It blows QT out of the water (sorry QT, I still love you). We ran into construction throughout Fort Worth/Dallas and I quickly remembered why we do not live in Dallas.

We finally arrived in Waco and luckily our hotel was right down the street from Magnolia. Perfect since their free parking isn’t very big and I didn’t want to pay to park our car. We loaded up and walked to the market. We spent about 2 hours at Magnolia where Grady played in the grass, ate lunch, and walked/looked around. It’s actually not as big as I thought it would be but seriously everything Jo touches is beautiful. After sweating and starting to smell like BO we decided to walk back to the hotel but of course after we stopped into her bakery which I picked up the best cookies!! So good that I made Chad take me back on Saturday and I’m so glad we went to the market on Friday. Saturday was crazy busy and there was a line just to get into the market to shop!

After a quick shower and a nap we went back out and went to the cutest antique store just a block from Magnolia, this is where I did my shopping. I don’t know about you but I can’t do shopping in crowded places (hence my addiction to amazon). It was called the findery and so cute!! And as an added plus Pokey O’s, which is an ice cream food truck was just next door which was heaven!!

Before our next stop we did a quick tour around the Market to see if we could find one of their houses(the Shotgun house) that they had redone. After looking up their approximate location on VRBO
We were able to find it! This was one thing I wish we had done with more of their homes but would have been hard to find not knowing the area and having their address’ hidden.

We made our way to the beautiful campus of Baylor where they have a live Bear exhibit. Chad and I were so excited, Grady on the other hand could have cared less. Did you know that they used to walk the bears on campus? Holy moly wouldn’t that have been a site.

We ate dinner at the local favorite, George’s and I have to admit it didn’t live up to the name but Grady made some friends with the table behind us. After dinner we ventured downtown to a candy store. It was super cute inside and Grady was obsessed with a truck that was inside. Me on the other hand was a little disappointed with their candy selection, no laffy taffy.

The next day we traveled to Fort Worth to stay with our friends but before we left Waco we stopped by a cute shopping center called Spice Village and also went to go find Harp’s Design studio. Waco is such a fun little town that I can see why people fall in love with it.
