Parade of Homes

Friday, June 30, 2017

This past weekend was the last weekend for Parade of Homes. You guys already know I love this event and that we go every year. It is by far my favorite thing to do during the summer. Chad and I have always talked about moving in the future but we have been ramping up those conversations. We’ve said maybe in 3 to 5 years from now but currently we have been discussing next year after Audrey is 1.  I’ve been hesitant in mentioning this because well we don’t know what the future holds for us but Chad and I took a long hard look at the budget and we are estimating on paying our house off in a little over a year!!! So even though I really want some sort of change in my life I also want to stay in our house long enough to get it paid off. But after attending this year’s Parade of Homes, I’ve been stung by the moving bug once again. Oh what to do what to do?

We found a floor plan that both of us fell in love with. It was one where the Master was downstairs and when you walk upstairs you walk into a game room and then the bedrooms were upstairs off of the game room. I really didn't think I would like that but after walking around it just felt right. Below are a few pictures from this year's parade of homes.

Love this idea of a small bar in between the dining room and kitchen.

Isn't this beautiful! It's actually tile not concrete but it looks just like concrete.

Love this little area if we do have a game room that way we can keep snacks and beverage upstairs for the kids.

Love, love, love this style of bathtub.

Excuse my photobomb but I love the little sit down vanity in the bathroom

This next house was by far our favorite with all of the farmhouse style. I mean that ceiling!

This was a little outside sitting area off the master which was so cute! I probably would never use this area but it was super cute

Fixer upper anyone?

Can we just take a moment to stare at this gorgeous pantry? I do believe Chad had to pry me out of this pantry!

I'm really loving the carpet in between the stairs as well, especially for little ones

We noticed that there was a lot of houses with a TON of storage space which I love. I love my house but that is one thing that is missing is a lot of storage space. I did notice though that the closets were really small. We went to a Million Dollar home in Tulsa and the closet was no joke about the size of my current closet.

Father's Day Weekend

Sunday, June 25, 2017

I had last Friday off work and seriously I cherish these days. Why do we have to work again, oh yea because we like things…

Saturday was our diaper bash and we had an absolute blast! We had it at the Flying tee in Jenks and while the guys were playing golf there was a little putting green with some outdoor games where we played with Grady. My in-laws took Grady after the diaper bash and Chad and I enjoyed a day date. We went to the parade of homes in Jenks. It was my first time going in Jenks and to be honest I wasn’t impressed. We are going to the Owasso parade of homes this weekend and I am so excited! We then went to the Mall because we have our family pictures this weekend and I was a little late in getting together everyone’s outfits. I do not like malls, they are more frustrating than enjoyable and you can find anything you need online these days but since it was last minute and I didn’t have time to ship something I decided to beat the bullet and just go. And then I was quickly reminded of why we do not go to malls, we left with only a few of the things that I came in for and wasn’t too happy with the items that we had picked out.

Chad had to work again this past Sunday on Father’s day to make it worse but bright side is that he gets paid for overtime! Grady has been loving our bed lately and as soon as he wakes up he wants to go to our bed to watch cartoons. He also loves playing in our pantry and we have a drawer with all of his snacks and he knows exactly which drawer that is and if the pantry door is open he’s in there. When did my baby get so long! Daddy made it home right around noon and Grady and I were just finishing up lunch so I put him down for a nap and Daddy went down for a nap as well and since it was Father’s day I let him take an extra-long nap. After nap time I started working on Chads Father’s day dinner. We had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, and white chocolate strawberry cheesecake. Love planning meals around what you would normally not eat any other day and that cheesecake is to die for. It was the first time for me to make a chicken fried steak and the recipe called for 3 lbs of meat. I knew that was going to be way too much but I figured we could eat on it for a while so I went ahead and bought all 3 lbs and man frying those suckers wore me out. I got Grady a Boston Red Sox tank top to wear for Father’s day because when you have a little boy the cutest thing is matching with their daddy! It was the perfect day and a perfect end to the weekend.

I’m a fat whale and look like a fat hamster stuck in its slide, especially when I’m trying to squeeze into a non maternity outfit. My feet have grown a half size and I’m too cheap to buy new shoes. I’m holding on to my wedding rings although they are starting to get tight as well. And it’s HOT like really hot, yes I realize it’s only June too! Ok enough complaining. Things are moving especially well and I’m getting things checked off the to-do list which gives me huge motivation. Although I’m complaining I really do love being pregnant it is a true gift and I’m very grateful for this opportunity. Since this is my second pregnancy things are a little looser, downstairs. I have farted twice at work with one of those times being a walking fart and I sure hope no one has noticed. I do try and cover it up and pretend like I tripped or it was my phone but let’s get real, people aren’t that stupid. Now that I’m further along when you got to go, you got to go like 2 minutes ago. The multiple bathroom breaks at night have started and I am dying of thirst in the middle of the night as well. I’m still craving sweets and have noticed it is doing a number on the way my clothes fit these past few days/weeks. The online shopping is getting a little over board, I’m hot and need more dresses instead of all the winter maternity clothes that I do have. And if Chad mentions one more time that I’m harming the baby with that 1 cup of coffee I drink I’m probably going to slap him. I mean I’ve really thought about getting one of those pregnancy belly’s and making him walk around with it and also I really want to hook him up to a labor machine to have him experience child birth.

Ok does my hair not look like goofy's hat on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse? (total mom move)

Grady decided last week that he didn’t want to be rocked to sleep anymore and let me tell you, I am so not ready for this to happen. He also discovered that we have a tv in our room and after 2 years of it not working Chad hooked it up so Grady could watch tv and now we can’t get him out of our bed. The past few mornings he has wanted to drink his milk and watch tv in mommy and daddy’s bed. We had his 18 month doctor’s appointment on Friday and the doctor proceeded to tell us that he needs to be off the binky and not drinking as much milk. Yea we’ll consider that…. Probably not going to happen he loves his milk but thanks for the idea. We are currently obsessed with the water dispenser in the refrigerator and want to get water out of it every time he sees a cup lying around. He also loves to open and close doors and cabinets. Although we have taught him to throw trash away! He loves to be of any help and gets very upset if he’s not helping you. Right now his favorite snack is cheese and Ritz checkers. If I just put cheese in a bowl he’ll be content while I make dinner.

Weekend Recap

Thursday, June 15, 2017

This past weekend was filled with projects. Chad has been working so hard on the nursery and I absolutely love him for it. He spent literally all day painting her room and while he was painting Grady and I enjoyed the outside. We were per lazy and didn’t get out of our pjs until about 9:30/10. Well he did, I have to get out of my pajamas almost immediately after waking up just to put my boobs away thank you mom boobs #victimofayearbreastfeeding. When daddy's inside and we are outside we must watch everything that daddy is doing.

Chad had to go into work on Sunday so Grady and I got to spend the whole day together! And besides him refusing to take a nap it was a great day. Chad came home at about 1 and I throw a freezer meal in the oven for dinner! I can’t believe it’s time to start compiling more freezer meal ideas and putting them together for this baby. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I almost completely forgot my biggest accomplishment this past weekend, I finally finished Grady’s first year shutterfly book. That only took me about 6 months to do but it’s finished and I’m just waiting on a coupon to order! After going through my pictures I realized that we are slacking on the picture taking so family selfie it is. And does anyone else still have a Christmas picture on their fridge, nope just me ok...

The room is painted!!!! I sure hope she is girly because it is pink in there. So surreal walking into her room and seeing pink everywhere, I still cannot believe I’m having a little girl.  Maybe it’s the fact of having a boy first but it’s still shocking that I’ll be dressing a little human in bows and girly outfits and can I just admit that there is so much more to a little girls outfit. There’s not just a sleeper you put her in there has to be the right bow to go along with it, ahh. I’m a little behind on my posting of weekly updates I’m almost 28 weeks and we have our diaper bash this weekend which I am very excited about.

I am currently craving Panera mac and cheese, and just so you know they sell it at Target and it’s cheaper and as an added plus both Chad and Grady do not care for it so it’s all mine. Oh and by the way can I just vent here and say that people really need to work on their pregnancy talk for example I was in CVS and a stranger asked how long I had after telling him he proceeds to tell me “oh my you got a while to go and in the summer to, that’s going to be hot” Thank you for reminding me I didn’t already realize that. And then at work I had 2 people mention why big and uncomfortable I looked. And 1 of them going as far as saying that they never got that big when they were pregnant, geez thanks? As far as movements , she is no longer a laid back little girl as I mentioned in a previous post. She is all over the place and loves to flip and turn in every sort of way. Kind of like her mom, she cannot sit still for long.

I am having the most difficult time buying clothes for our little girl. I just do not know what my style is. She’ll definitely be in sleepers for the first 3 months but I just can’t decide on bows and then 6+ month outfits. I’m not a big bow person but I just can’t find really cute cheap bows that I like right now. I did get her coming home outfit in the mail this week and set up our family pictures for June, small progress. I still feel like there is a ton more to do. Chad has been working the daybed that will be going in her room and hopefully will be finished this weekend! We picked out a paint color and just need to paint.
I had my doctor’s appointment last week and baby girl was showing off. Chad wasn’t able to make it to this appointment and too bad because our doctor was in a really good mood and did a high definition ultrasound and 4d ultrasound for free. She was smiling and laughing the whole time. She is moving a lot more now a days and loves to dig into my right side. My puffy vagina is back and in full force. The only thing I’ve really been craving is laffy taffy and it has to be the individual wrapped kind not the jumbo kind. My cravings have been a lot more sweet this time around compared to Grady they were salty and I could eat salt out of my hand.

Magnolia Trip

Sunday, June 4, 2017

This past weekend was so much fun! I love making memories with my little family. We traveled to the famous Magnolia Market to check out what the buzz was about. We left on Thursday after work and since it is 6 hours away from us we broke up our time in the car. We traveled to Ardmore which is 3 hours away and stayed in a hotel that night and then traveled the rest of the way on Friday. Grady did absolutely amazing in the car, much better than the airplane but maybe it’s because he can’t go anywhere in the car with his carseat.

We were stoked to kind out that there was a Buc-ee’s on our way through Fort Worth so of course we had to stop. Sad to admit but we spent more money here than we did at Magnolia. Yes it is a gas station but don’t hate until you have been. It blows QT out of the water (sorry QT, I still love you). We ran into construction throughout Fort Worth/Dallas and I quickly remembered why we do not live in Dallas.

We finally arrived in Waco and luckily our hotel was right down the street from Magnolia. Perfect since their free parking isn’t very big and I didn’t want to pay to park our car. We loaded up and walked to the market. We spent about 2 hours at Magnolia where Grady played in the grass, ate lunch, and walked/looked around. It’s actually not as big as I thought it would be but seriously everything Jo touches is beautiful. After sweating and starting to smell like BO we decided to walk back to the hotel but of course after we stopped into her bakery which I picked up the best cookies!! So good that I made Chad take me back on Saturday and I’m so glad we went to the market on Friday. Saturday was crazy busy and there was a line just to get into the market to shop!

After a quick shower and a nap we went back out and went to the cutest antique store just a block from Magnolia, this is where I did my shopping. I don’t know about you but I can’t do shopping in crowded places (hence my addiction to amazon). It was called the findery and so cute!! And as an added plus Pokey O’s, which is an ice cream food truck was just next door which was heaven!!

Before our next stop we did a quick tour around the Market to see if we could find one of their houses(the Shotgun house) that they had redone. After looking up their approximate location on VRBO
We were able to find it! This was one thing I wish we had done with more of their homes but would have been hard to find not knowing the area and having their address’ hidden.

We made our way to the beautiful campus of Baylor where they have a live Bear exhibit. Chad and I were so excited, Grady on the other hand could have cared less. Did you know that they used to walk the bears on campus? Holy moly wouldn’t that have been a site.

We ate dinner at the local favorite, George’s and I have to admit it didn’t live up to the name but Grady made some friends with the table behind us. After dinner we ventured downtown to a candy store. It was super cute inside and Grady was obsessed with a truck that was inside. Me on the other hand was a little disappointed with their candy selection, no laffy taffy.

The next day we traveled to Fort Worth to stay with our friends but before we left Waco we stopped by a cute shopping center called Spice Village and also went to go find Harp’s Design studio. Waco is such a fun little town that I can see why people fall in love with it.
