Guys, I started planning Grady’s 1st birthday embarrassing
early. I love love love entertaining and could not wait to finally plan a
kiddos birthday party. Even though I changed the time of the party several
times the “Camping” “Woodsy” “Outdoorsy” theme stuck from the very beginning.
At first I wanted to do it at dinner time and go all out with a BBQ dinner and
the whole nine yards but then I got ahold of myself and thought that I just
really didn’t want to cook for a ton of people so we settled on an afternoon
party. We had just got our patio extended and I was really hoping to have it
outdoor but December in Oklahoma is always up in the air. I remember last year
going on a walk outside when Grady was a week old. This year it was chilly and
rainy the first of December. We had his party on December 3rd this
year which fell on Bedlam (OU vs. OSU). My plan was to have the party at 3 and
then the football game would be at 6:30 and people could stay to watch the game
but of course that didn’t work out and the football game was at 11:30 instead.
We borrowed a bouncy house from my coworker. And now I know what Grady
is getting for his 2nd birthday!!
It was cold and rainy but we got to have fun with it before the party. Some
friends came over at 11:30 to watch the game which was perfect because I ran
some last minute errands.
The guys had a blast decorating the cake. I purchased a naked cake from
a local bakery and then purchased animal figurines online to decorate with. I
do have to say they did a fabulous job. My neighbor made the cookies, aren’t
they adorable! She did an amazing job.
We had a Trail mix bar which was a hit with everyone. I was so worried
with little kids running around but it was perfect.
Since we had the party at 3:00 I knew we had to have some sort of
snacks so I had a table with all of Grady’s favorite foods. We had blueberries,
chicken and noodles, meatballs, guacamole, nuggets, graham crackers, and puffs.
He’s really not a picky eater at this age just not a big eater. And let me tell
you I got the nuggets from Chick-fil-A and I caught people looking in my oven
for more nuggets!
For drinks we had Caramel Apple sangria, hot coco, and water. The
sangria was to dye for! A perfect recipe for this time of year.
Grady is such a people person that he absolutely LOVED his birthday and
so did Chad and I that I may or may not already be thinking about a theme for his 2nd!
