And she's back... Once again

Friday, December 30, 2016

So I guess I better explain myself for totally being MIA for about 6 months. You guys motherhood is no joke… 6 months ago I was getting maybe 1 hour of sleep and my little angel was up every hour. There was NO time for blogging. We would literally fall asleep when he did cause we never knew when he would wake up. Luckily it’s gotten a lot better. He’s still the most inconsistent sleeper to this day however. He will sleep through the night most nights. And yes I know my child is supposed to be sleeping through the night (FYI, I do not need you to remind me-thanks). We are currently working on it but I have to say some nights are just not pretty and I do not have the patience for it. Any who, life happened and I found myself worrying about what to blog about instead of just relaxing and spending time with my son. I got caught up in what people were thinking/wanting from me that I forgot the sole purpose of why I started a blog. You see I started a blog to document my life. I’m horrible at taking pictures and just overall remembering details of special moments that I wanted something fun to keep me busy but almost force me to take pictures on the norm to document all of our special moments as a family. I had an aha moment a few weeks ago, and realized that I needed to have a blog in my life. I missed it but did not miss the desire to “think” of posts I missed having one place I can turn to and remember special moments. Mainly I missed having a place my family could turn to see what we were up to on the daily. I’m awful at calling and chit chatting about random things that I figured having a blog was a perfect place for both my friends and family to catch up on our lives. I really wanted to start all over but I just cannot get rid of all the pregnancy posts so I have a lot of house cleaning to do but I hope you will follow along in this life’s journey, once again.

Check out my son's staring game! Can you say on point?

Christmas 2016

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

Why didn’t anyone tell me that Christmas time with a child is so much more fun? Oh my goodness we had a blast, I had tons of stuff planned out for us to do with Grady and due to my lack of planning we didn’t get to fit some things in… There’s always next year right!

Christmas started a week early for Grady. He had a polar Express theme at his daycare where he got to wear PJ’s all day(jealous) and then they had a book exchange. He got the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book and it is officially his favorite. He goes and picks it out every night for mommy or daddy to read to him, and I can’t complain because I also love this book.

We also braved the crowds and went to go see Santa at Bass pro. Grady seemed like he was super excited but then when I put him on his lap he was completely still and would not move. I don’t even think he blinked an eye.

The week of Christmas, our church hosted several Christmas services throughout the week and weekend. My family normally goes to Christmas Eve service and then we will come home and have dinner and open presents. I love this tradition that I wanted to share it with our friends. We had Chad’s brother and his wife over and our good friends over for dinner after attending Church service. Our friends got Grady a Christmas present (they spoil them rotten).

Lucky for us all of our family lives pretty close which makes holidays super easy, thank goodness. We headed over to my parents on Christmas Eve. We ended up not going to the Christmas Eve service this year. My parents church does not have nursery during the Christmas service and they light candles, needless to say I could vision bad things happening and didn’t want to take the risk. My parents went over and beyond this year and by looking at the pictures Grady would have been just happy with a stocking full of Puffs and graham crackers.

Chad is a Boston redsox fan and my parents are KC Royal fans, looks like Grady will be wearing this shirt when he goes to stay with his Nana and Pawpaw.

We put Karl outside while we were opening presents. Grady was not happy about this.

Now that we have a little one I want to have our own little Traditions. For Christmas Eve, I wanted Grady to open up 1 present. This year it was PJ’s and ‘The Night Before Christmas’ book.

For Christmas we really didn’t go all out. I knew he would get spoiled with Grandmas and Grandpas and he’s 1, is he really going to remember? We got him a shopping cart, a stocking, a tool set (which was actually free from my Pampers rewards), and a toy truck. I really want to get Grady a toy Kitchen but Chad and my mom says it’s too girly so I’m thinking maybe a farmer’s market. I mean how cute is this?? Don’t worry Karl got a stocking too but he was too excited that all the pictures are blurry.

After our Christmas we headed over to Chad’s parents which I didn’t know where my phone was at so I didn’t get any pictures. But he did get a ride-on GMC truck (see spoiled). We also went to Chad’s grandparents’ house. Christmas was a fun filled packed day! Thank goodness I had off on Monday to relax

Hey dad! your hair is a little wild there...

This kids tongue is always out..

Grady's 1st Birthday Party

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Guys, I started planning Grady’s 1st birthday embarrassing early. I love love love entertaining and could not wait to finally plan a kiddos birthday party. Even though I changed the time of the party several times the “Camping” “Woodsy” “Outdoorsy” theme stuck from the very beginning. At first I wanted to do it at dinner time and go all out with a BBQ dinner and the whole nine yards but then I got ahold of myself and thought that I just really didn’t want to cook for a ton of people so we settled on an afternoon party. We had just got our patio extended and I was really hoping to have it outdoor but December in Oklahoma is always up in the air. I remember last year going on a walk outside when Grady was a week old. This year it was chilly and rainy the first of December. We had his party on December 3rd this year which fell on Bedlam (OU vs. OSU). My plan was to have the party at 3 and then the football game would be at 6:30 and people could stay to watch the game but of course that didn’t work out and the football game was at 11:30 instead.

We borrowed a bouncy house from my coworker. And now I know what Grady is getting for his 2nd birthday!!  It was cold and rainy but we got to have fun with it before the party. Some friends came over at 11:30 to watch the game which was perfect because I ran some last minute errands.

The guys had a blast decorating the cake. I purchased a naked cake from a local bakery and then purchased animal figurines online to decorate with. I do have to say they did a fabulous job. My neighbor made the cookies, aren’t they adorable! She did an amazing job.

We had a Trail mix bar which was a hit with everyone. I was so worried with little kids running around but it was perfect.

Since we had the party at 3:00 I knew we had to have some sort of snacks so I had a table with all of Grady’s favorite foods. We had blueberries, chicken and noodles, meatballs, guacamole, nuggets, graham crackers, and puffs. He’s really not a picky eater at this age just not a big eater. And let me tell you I got the nuggets from Chick-fil-A and I caught people looking in my oven for more nuggets!

For drinks we had Caramel Apple sangria, hot coco, and water. The sangria was to dye for! A perfect recipe for this time of year.

Grady is such a people person that he absolutely LOVED his birthday and so did Chad and I that I may or may not already be thinking about a theme for his 2nd

Grady's 1st Birthday

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

How can it have already been a year? It just does not seem fair and makes you realize to never take a moment for granted for the days are long but the years are short.

Grady’s birthday was on a Thursday this year so I decided to take off and spend the day with him of course. Since I took off for his birthday on Thursday we decided to celebrate his birthday at Daycare the day before. I purchased some “Happy Birthday” donuts and fruit for the kiddos.

That Wednesday night Chad and I spent the night putting together the LookoutTreehouse we got for his birthday. We also blew up a total of 16 balloons for him to wake up to. On Thursday morning, I let him sleep in a little bit longer than usual while he was sleeping I filled his room up with the balloons and I guess I wasn’t very quiet because he woke up shortly after I was done to udder confusion.

We spent the morning playing and going to the donut shop for some yummy donuts. My sister and my nephew came into town that morning as well so they came over and played with us. That evening we headed up to Bartlesville to take our family pictures. We took his smash cake photos a few weeks back and Chad unfortunately had to be in Houston during that time and there was no way I was moving these photos so I scheduled another session to get family photos in.

Saturday we had his birthday party and it was one for the books. I absolutely loved planning it that I might just save it for another post…. More to come!
