Before I got pregnant, I always told myself that I was going to
exercise and eat healthy the entire 9 months and that I wasn’t going to let the
excuse of “being pregnant” stop that. Well, although I would love to work out
and eat healthy all the time, hormones and tiredness get the best of us
pregnant women. I read the best advice a few weeks ago, that the 1st
trimester is all about survival mode. I hate to admit that there were days that
I went to bed at 8:30 or took a 4 hour nap on a Sunday because I was so tired. As
far as the cravings, of course it’s best to eat healthier snacks but it sure is
ok to have the craving every now and then.
Below is a list of my must haves
for getting through the 1st trimester.
Raspberry tea: I use to drink coffee every day before I was pregnant.
As soon as we found out, I quit cold turkey, which it is perfectly fine to
drink coffee I just made the decision to stop. Who knows if I’ll continue into
the fall when Pumpkin Latte’s come out? This raspberry tea was a great remedy
when headaches and nausea began.
Prenatal Vitamins: I learned early on that vitamins with a bunch of
iron did not agree with my stomach. These things were the best thing out there
until the doctor prescribes something else.
Pregnancy pillow: my pelvic bone hurt early on in my 1st
trimester. So Chad got me this pregnancy pillow for my birthday. It’s helped
extremely for my lower back pain.
Tumbler: The only thing that I have really craved my entire pregnancy
has been ice cold water. I read early on that if you’re not drinking enough
water you could be dehydrating the baby, so I’ve really been trying to watch my
water intake.
Stretch Mark cream: This one is definitely a personal preference. I
don’t have the greatest skin so I knew I was going to get stretch marks sooner
or later. I tried 4 different kinds and I’m currently on this one. I love the
smell and it’s not too oily where it stains your cloths.
