Weekend Recap

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

This weekend was perfect! I couldn't have asked for anything better to celebrate our 1 year together. I took off work on Friday, since Chad had off too, and we went shopping for our garden! Every year we add more to our garden, hopefully we will be successful once again this year.

We also picked up a few things for our flower beds in the front. I’m hoping that the dividers we purchased will help with the grass overload in our front garden bed. I also picked up some lavender plants this year since last year I waited too long and then they were all sold out.

Saturday morning we woke up starting our anniversary out right with some donuts. Holy moly fruity pebble donut, bring on the drool.

We then purchased a tree for our yard. I completely underestimated how long it would take to plant a tree. I made a quick getaway to go get our cake that I ordered. (side note: I don’t know why more people don’t just order their top tier of their wedding cake instead of freezing it, so much better). That evening we ate at a new restaurant in downtown Tulsa where it’s a farm to table style and all ingredients are from local farmers, super yummy especially Chad’s. We made our way over to a rooftop bar before heading home. We ended the night eating our delicious cake and dancing to our wedding music.

I still felt productive on Sunday and started cleaning out my side of the closet soon after pulling all the clothes out I began regretting that decision. At least we got to take a break to celebrate a very special 1 year old!!

Wedding Wednesday - Honeymoon Fund

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

I cannot believe that our wedding was almost a year ago. One of my co-workers just recently got engaged, so it’s fun to relive our wedding and share with him my do's and don’ts. Since Chad and I got married when we were 24 and 25 years old and just recently purchased a house, we really did not need a lot of house related items. We opted for a honeymoon registry instead. I researched a few places online like honeyfund.com, etc. and a lot of those places charge upwards of 5% of the money contributed. Well I’m cheap and I don’t like other people taking my money.  We booked through a travel agent and fortunately for us they do Honeymoon funds without additional charges. Win and Win.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was absolutely beautiful. Karl went to my mom’s and on the way home we rolled down the window for him to enjoy. I think we enjoyed it more than him.

Saturday Karl and I attempted to work out together. I didn’t get much accomplished. After working out, I ran to Tulsa to run a few errands. On my way home I look in my rear view mirror and noticed that my spoiler was hanging on by a thread, literally. Luckily, Chad was able to fix it.

We spent Sunday working on projects around the house and was able to finally finish decorating our bathroom! Just need a few more accessories. Love the way it turned out.

Can’t wait for this next weekend to work on another project! YAY for spring.

2015 Vacation

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

We just came back from our vacation to Cancun. We really went back and forth on whether to take a trip this year or not. We thought long and hard about it and decided that since this might(hopefully) be our last trip together before kids, it was the best choice for us. I am so glad that we went, not only did our friends from Dallas decide to join us, but this was by far the most beautiful place we have ever been to.

We stayed at the Royalton Riviera Cancun all-inclusive resort. It is a brand new resort that we got a heck of a deal on, so we knew going in to be optimistic. After we got there, I could not believe how beautiful this place was. Who can complain about something this nice? The food was amazing, the rooms were beautiful, and the experience from the airport to the resort was a breeze. Everything surpassed my expectations. We stayed 5 nights last year for our honeymoon and in all honesty we thought that was a little too long, so we only booked 4 nights and seriously I could have spent a day or 2 longer here. Here’s a few pictures from our vacation.

(What a hunk)

Life

Thursday, March 5, 2015

Yesterday was one of the hardest days I have ever encountered in my career. Everyone talks about layoffs and losing jobs but I never imagined I would experience it. I did not lose my job, but I saw 6 people around me get laid off. I don’t know how to feel and have several emotions about the whole thing. I’m upset, scared, worried and grateful. I work for Corporate America and although I get paid pretty well, with great benefits, is it worth being treated like just a number and being disposable? I am very grateful for the job that I have and I understand that millions would do anything to have the job that I have. But I can’t help but think about; “What if that was me?” do I have enough in my emergency fund? Could I find a job that pays the same? etc. A sermon that our pastor spoke about keeps coming to my mind. I was always told that God doesn’t give you more than you can handle but nowhere in the bible does it say that. In fact, maybe God throws us curve balls to remind us to lean on and seek him. We get wrapped up in the ways of life and the acceptance of this world that sometimes we stray from our priorities. Maybe just maybe this whole experience is a reminder of the more important things in life like God and Family. Every morning I give my day to him and every night I come home to my family. That’s all I need in this life, the love of the God almighty and my husband. I will continue to pray for the families affected and also praise him for his eternal love.
